Grappler Minus: The Perfect Pairing with SPIISD V2
Take your Apple II experience to the next level by combining the Grappler Minus card with the SPIISD V2!
What is Grappler Minus?
The Grappler Minus card is a purpose-built solution designed to work seamlessly with SoftSP DIY ROMs. Originally, SoftSP DIY repurposed the Grappler Plus printer interface card (sold by OrangeMicro) to modify Apple's Disk II controller card for Smartport compatibility. Grappler Minus takes this concept further by offering a clean, modern implementation.
This open-source project is freely available for personal use and can be built by anyone with the right tools and knowledge. Please note: commercial sales are strictly prohibited. Detailed build instructions can be found on our GitHub page.
The Grappler Minus was specifically created to enable the use of SPIISD V2 with Apple II computers.
How to Use
- Insert the Grappler Minus card into slot #5(or any other slot you want) .
- Place the Disk II controller card (or 52.5 Drive Card) into slot #6.
- Power on your Apple II and press CTRL + RST.
- Enter PR#5 and press Return.
- The device connected to the Disk II controller card (e.g., SPIISD V2) will now operate in Smartport mode.
